Description

Popti is Mharashtran Koknis meal, actually dis feast is made in villages when they go night time fishing.... They carry all stuff and make bonfire feast... laters it became popular when guests come then it was made... Now individual make this feast.... This is very unusual and authentic way of cooking.... You actually cook on bonfire, the heat of the fire cooks the meal in the clay pot that is semi dugged in the ground.

Ingredients

Serves : 4
  • 2 nos chicken (cleaned, washed n slitted)


  • 2 tsp chilli powder


  • 1 pinch salt


  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder


  • 2 tbsp ginger garlic paste


  • 1 pinch kesar color


  • 3 tbsp dahi


  • 1/2 tsp citric powder


  • 1 tsp tandoori masala


  • 2 kgs for popt : phalli (lima beans) sprinkle salt n blackpepper wid carrom seeds


  • 1/2 cups bhamrut leaves o banana leaves


  • 1 kgs potatoes o sweet potatoes (rataalu)


  • 12 nos eggs

Directions

  • Take a small pan put 3tbsp oil n keep on flame, add ol ingredients except Chicken n Dahi, lower de flame n cook til aroma arises...
  • remuv from flame add Dahi n mix well let it cool apply on Chicken n let marinate for 4-5 hrs....
  • NB: U cn use green masala o tikka masala for chicken marinade....
  • For Popti: Dig a big hole in garden or backyard or outside your home big enough for 2 pots sinking in.
  • collect dried stick to mek bonfire....
  • Now take one pot put bhamrut leaves as base, den put phallis, marinated whole chicken, lil phallis again then eggs, hlf kg potatoes, 2 cobs cut in pcs, sprinkle salt n carrom seeds den put phallis again n cover wid bhamrut leaves....
  • cover with banana leaves n tie it up.
  • lower in de hole....
  • Do the same for the other pot n lower it in de hole... cover de rest of de hole wid bhamrut leaves den arrange sticks jus like bonfire n lit....
  • let it cook wid de bonfire heat for 1-2 hrs
  • Remuv on a thaali n serve with hot chutney...
