Potato Kaapa or Fried Rava-Potato Slices

Description

This is basically a Goan side dish called Batata Kaapa with few modifications. It tastes awesome with daal rice or any dip as a snack.

Ingredients

Serves : 4
  • Potatoes - 2 large (Sliced)


  • Semolina - 1/4 Cup


  • Red Chili powder - 1 teaspoon


  • Garam Masala - 1tsp


  • Lemon juice - 1tbsp


  • Chopped coriander leaves - 2tbsp


  • Turmeric Powder - 1/2 - 1 teaspoon


  • Salt - 1/4 teaspoon or to taste


  • Oil - 2-3 tablespoon for pan frying

Directions

  • Wash, peel the potatoes and cut them into little thick slices (about 1/4" thick).
  • After all, potatoes are sliced, add salt, lemon juice, garam masala, red chili powder, and finely chopped coriander. Mix well.
  • Keep aside for 5-7 minutes for marination.
  • Add some oil in a pan and spread on the whole surface.
  • Turn the heat down to low-medium.
  • Spread semolina in a plate. Dredge potato slices with semolina. Ensure that both sides of the potato slices are well-coated.
  • Gently place the potato slices on a nonstick pan and let them fry till the face touching the pan starts to brown.
  • Flip the potato slices over. Drizzle a few drops of oil in the pan, if required.
  • Fry them until brown and crisp.
  • Repeat till all the potato slices are fried.
  • Serve hot with sauce or dip.
