  • 2 cups whole-wheat flour or all purpose flour

  • 2 tbsp ghee

  • 1 cups oil for frying

  • 1 cups sugar

  • 2 cups water


  • Take the flour and ghee and knead into a lumpy mix.Add water slowly and knead into a smooth dough .Cover and keep aside.
  • Take some dough and roll out into a circle that is 7”-8” in diameter.
  • Using a knife slice desired shapes (square, rectangle, diamond, etc.) on the rolled dough.
  • Heat oil in a heavy-bottomed pan until medium hot oil.
  • Fry the flour pieces until they become crisp and light golden on one side, then turn over and fry till they become golden.
  • Remove and drain excess oil. Keep it on a tissue paper.
  • Take the sugar and water in a pan and keep it on a medium flame. Boil and wait til a thread like consistency is reached.
  • Once the desired consistency is reached, quickly add all the shakkar pare to the syrup. Toss to coat it well.
  • Sugar will crystalize quickly so mix briskly.
  • shakkar pare are ready to eat. Store in airtight container.
