Ingredients

Serves : 40
  • 1 1/4 cups for outer covering: maida


  • 1/2 cups besan/ gram flour


  • 2 tbsp oil


  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder


  • 1/4 tsp red chilli powder


  • 1/2 tsp salt


  • 4 tbsp for filling : dessicated coconut


  • 4 tsp poppy seeds


  • 4 tsp sesame seeds


  • 1/4 tsp asoefitida powder


  • 1 tsp red chilli powder


  • 3 tbsp powdered sugar


  • 1 tsp salt


  • 2 tsp cumin powder


  • 2 tsp coriander powder


  • 2 tsp fennel seeds


  • 2 tbsp tamarind paste


  • 2 nos green chillies finely chopped


  • 1 tsp ginger finely chopped


  • 2 tbsp coriander leaves finely chopped

Directions

  • Make dough using all the ingredients mentioned above for outer covering by adding little water.
  • The dough should be semi thick.
  • Keep it aside, and start preparing the filling.
  • Grind together poppy seeds,sesame seeds, green chilli and ginger to coarse paste.
  • Now mix together all the ingredients given under filling and mix well.
  • Make medium sized balls out of the dough.
  • Roll it into big round chapati size.
  • Spread the filling mixture at the centre.
  • Seal the four sides using maida paste ( maida water) and roll into spirals.
  • Refrigerate for 10 to 15 mins.
  • Cut the spirals into small cubes ,deep fry it in low flame so that the inner mixture gets cooked well.
  • Drain and keep aside,let it cool.
  • Store it in a container after it gets cooled.
