  • maida / whole purpose flour 1.6 cups

  • suji/rawa/semolina 1/2 cups

  • salt 1 pinch

  • milk 3-5 tbsp

  • ghee 2 tbsp


  • For Kneading: powder sugar in grinder and keep it aside
  • sieve the flour with salt.
  • sieve sugar and combine all.
  • melt the ghee and combine with flour, semolina, sugar mixture properly.
  • Again add 1/2 tsp of milk , knead the dough and keep it aside, covered for 20 minutes.
  • Frying : heat ghee in a wok for deep frying shankarpale.
  • Divide the dough in two equal portions and woll each part with a rolling pin. I
  • Using knife or shankarpale cutter cut diamond slices of the rolled dough.
  • gently drop it in heated ghee and fry till golden brown.
  • Remove it on a paper napkin to drain and remove excess ghee.
