Ingredients
Serves 6
Rice flour 1 cups
Urad dal flour 1 cups
Chana dal flour 1 cups
Whole Wheat flour 1 cups
Jowar flour 1 cups
Bajari flour 1 cups
Ajwain 2 tsp
Salt 2 tsp
turmeric powder 1 tsp
Green chillies paste 2 tsp
Ginger Garlic paste 2 tsp
Oil 4 cups
Sesame seeds 4 tsp
Poppy seeds 4 tsp
Directions
In a heavy bottom pan , take all the mixed flours
Dry roast all tje flours till golden in colour and nice aroma starts coming
Let it cool completely
Now add all the spices and salt to roasted flours
Add sesame seeds poppy seeds and ajawain to flours
Add 2 tablespoons of oil to flours and mix well
Knead a semi soft dough using warm water amd and keep aside covered for 10-15 minutes
Take chakali maker grease it with some oil and fill it with ready dough
Heat sufficient oil in a pan on low heat
Prepare chakalis on a plastic sheet ot directly in hot oil
Deep fry all chakalis in hot oil on low heat until golden and crisp in texture
Keep turning in between
Traditional Maharashtrian Multi grain chakalis are ready to serve. Let them cool completely and then store in air tight container. Enjoy festivities with family and friends
This Multigrain Chakali recipe is a heirloom Recipe in Maharashtrian community. This one is my mom's expertise and i learnt that from her . I follow her recipe with perfect measurements and it always comes out perfect. Stays well almost for 15 days ... But i bet they vanish before that . So crisp and Tempting snack.. must during diwali celebrations. It's rich in nutrients, high in fibre contents and easy to digest and filling even though light on tummy.
