Description

Chakli- very crispy and savoury snack prepared almost in every house during Diwali. It is a deep fried snack and a perfect companion for evening tea. It is known as "murukku" in south. There are many varieties of chakli. I am sharing one of the easy method of making instant chakli using rice flour, besan and maida. And you need a chakli maker.

Ingredients

Serves : 10
  • 1 cups rice flour


  • 2 tbsp besan


  • 1 tbsp maida


  • 1/2 cups water and milk


  • 2 tbsp green chilli, ginger and garlic paste


  • 2 tbsp malai and 3 tbs oil


  • 1 pinch salt to taste


  • 1/2 tbsp til


  • 1 cups oil for frying

Directions

  • Take rice flour into a deep bowl
  • To this add besan, maida, salt, paste of green chilies, ginger and garlic, till, malai, oil
  • Add milk as required and knead it into dough.
  • Grease chakali machine with oil. Stuff the mixture in it. Heat sufficient oil in kadai to deep fry chakali. Keep flame beween medium and high.
  • Take sheet of paper or a tray, bring your chakli maker on tray and Press chakali machine. Slightly rotate the maker round and round until you get a spiral shaped chakali. stick the tip so that it won't open after dropping into hot oil
  • Gently lift the chakali and leave into hot oil. deep fry until golden color. Place deep fried chakali on paper towel.
  • Once chakalis are completely cooled down, store them into an airtight container. Enjoy your chakali with your tea.
