Cheeroti is a desert served in Karnataka and Maharashtra.this desert is served during special occasions such as festivals and wedding.

Ingredients

Serves : 15
  • 2 cups plain flour(maida)


  • 2 tbsp ghee(melted)


  • 1 tbsp salt


  • 3/4 tbsp sugar-powderedmixed with 1/2 tablespoon cardamom powder


  • 2 tbsp for paste-rice flour-

Directions

  • In a bowl,add the plain flour,ghee and salt mix it well.add enough water kneet it well to make a smooth dough(like roti dough).keep it aside
  • While dough is done prepare for powder sugar mixture.in a bowl,add a powdered sugar and cardamom powder mix it well and keep it aside
  • In a small bowl,mis rice flour with melted ghee and keep it aside.this is used to bind the layers of rotis
  • Take the dough and make 6 lemon sized balls.roll each it thin rotis.spread teaspoon rice flour paste on roti then place another rolled out roti living a small gap.smear the rice flour paste.again place another roti on second roti living a small gap.do the same process with remaining 3 rotis.now gently role the rotis to make cylinder shape.cut into 1/2 thick circles.
  • With the help of rolling pin roll ot the thick circles into thin rotis of 4" to 5" diameter(as shown in picture)
  • Heat the oil for deep frying in a pan(kadhai).once hot ,reduce the flame to low midium and place 3 or 4 rolled out cheerotis in hot oil.flipping it slowly fry it until it turns to golden brown.once it turned to golden brown remove it from pan and place it in absorbent paper.immediately sprinkle powdered sugar on cheerotis.
  • Store in air tight container and they fresh for atleast 1 week.
  • Tips-1-while deep frying cheerotis always keep the flame in low medium.2-always sprinkle the sugar immediately after frying
