Pasta with bean bolognese

  • 200 gms pasta (spaghetti or pappardelle)

  • 1 onion

  • 2 tomatoes

  • 1 green chilli (optional)

  • 1/2 tsp garlic paste

  • 2 tbsp tomato or red chilli sauce

  • 1 tsp oregano

  • 1 tsp red chilli powder

  • 3-4 tbsp olive oil

  • 1/2 tsp salt or to taste

  • 1 cup boiled kidney beans

  • 1 tsp black pepper powder

  • 1/4 cup water


  • First of all, cook pasta as per packet instructions. Choose your favourite kind of pasta. I have used pappardelle pasta. Drain water and wash with cold water. keep aside.
  • Finely chop onion, green chilli and tomatoes. Don't add green chillies if you dont want your sauce to be spicy. Heat oil in a pan. Add garlic paste and saute for 30 seconds. Add finely chopped onions and fry till translucent.
  • Add finely chopped tomatoes and green chilli and cook for 2-3 minutes. Add salt and balck pepper powder to taste. Stir occasionally.
  • Add kidney beans. With the help of spoon mash them. Its ok if there are some pieces left in it. If you want you can mash them first and then add them to the sauce or you can skip it if you don't like mashed beans.
  • Add red chilli powder, tomato sauce or red chilli sauce as per your choice. If you dont like spicy sauce then add tomato sauce.
  • Add oregano and stir well.
  • Add water. Cover it and let it cook for 10 minutes on medium flame or untill it thickens. Consistency should be neither too thick nor too thin.
  • Lower the flame check the seasoning. Add water if needed. Switch off the flame.
  • Transfer pasta and sauce to a serving plate. Garnish with coriander leaves if you like well this is totally optional. 😛
  • Serve hot. Enjoy ☺
