In a saucepan heat olive oil and saute chopped onion.
After 2-3 minutes add crushed garlic and saute 1 more minute.
Add turmeric powder and chopped green chilli.
Add soaked lentil and boiled chick peas.
Pour hot water or vegetable stock.
Add salt and simmer for about 1/2 an hour to cook lentil completely.
In the meantime heat butter in a pan and fry thinly sliced onions to become golden brown and crisp.
Drain in a plate and keep aside.
In the same pan toast some bread pieces with the leftover onion flavoured butter.
When lentil cooks completely, add noodles and the chopped herbs and cook again till everything become soft.
Adjust seasoning according to your taste and remove from heat.
Serve this very healthy and refreshing flavoured soup with a dalop of sour cream and caramelized onion.
Serve also toasted bread as accompaniment.
