  • 1 kilograms boiled rice

  • 4 cup water

  • 1 teaspoon dry yeast

  • 2 cup grated coconut

  • 1 teaspoon sugar


  • Take a large bowl and soak 1 kilograms of rice in it for about 5 hours and then drain out the water from the bowl.
  • Meanwhile, take a small vessel and soak 1 cup rice in it that will be cooked. After soaking the rice for 20 minutes, boil them in a cooker with a cup of water on medium flame for a whistle.
  • Now take a blender and prepare a mixture of cooked rice and grated coconut. Then take a bowl and add sugar, dry yeast, salt and boiled water. Leave the mixture unattended for half an hour. After half an hour, mix both the mixtures well and combine them together.
  • Let the batter ferment for about 8-9 hours. Put a pan on medium flame and spread the mixture in it. Now cover the pan with a lid and heat for 3-4 minutes, then reduce the flame to low. The appam is now ready, enjoy it with your choice of curry.
