  • 1/2 kgs elephant yam

  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder

  • 3 tsp sambar powder

  • 1/2 tsp salt or salt to taste

  • 5 tbsp oil for frying

  • 1/2 tsp fennel seed powder

  • 2 sprig curry leaves

  • 5 nos guava leaves

  • 1 litre water to boil yam


  • Cut yam to slightly big flat pieces.
  • In a vessel and water, yam,turmeric powder and salt to taste.
  • Wait till yam is half cooked. Strain water thoroughly and spread it in a plate.
  • To the boiled yam sprinkle sambhar powder evenly.
  • Heat oil in a kadhai and fry yam till golden brown. Atlast fry curry leaves and garnish it before serving.
