  • 200 gms idly rice

  • 50 gms jaggery

  • 1/2 cups coconut shredded

  • 2 tsp cardamom powder

  • 6 nos saffron

  • 3 tbsp ghee


  • Soak idly rice in water 4 hours. Grind to a smooth batter with little salt. Melt the Jaggery with little water,Strain it And add to the ground batter.
  • Mix it well. Heat a pan, fry the grated coconut for a while.Add the ground batter,saffron and cardamom powder. Stir it continuously.
  • Until it reaches dough like consistency.
  • Turn off the heat.let it cool.smooth out the dough once it becomes cool down.
  • Pinch out a small lemon sized batter and keep in the palm and close fingers tightly. This way make all Pidi Kozhukattai. Arrange it.
  • Steam for 15 minutes. Kozhukattai is ready.
  • Drizzle little ghee and serve.
