  • 1 cups urad dal

  • 2 cups rice

  • 1 cups chopped coconut

  • 1 tbsp salt

  • 3 tbsp mustard oil (for 1pitha)


  • Soak urad dal and rice separately for atleast 3hours.
  • Then grind also separately to a smooth paste.
  • Mix the urad dal paste with your hand for about 10minutes to pass the air into it and make the batter so floppy.
  • Then mix both of the paste and cover it for sometimes.
  • Then add salt and coconut and mix the batter well.
  • Heat a kadai and pour the oil into it and then add 3-4ladle full of batter into it and cover it for some times.
  • Turn the other side till it becomes somewhat brown in colour in low flame.
  • Insert a toothpick into it to check whether it is done or not.
  • Then switch off the flame and your kadai pitha is now ready to serve.
  • Serve hot with milk or any type of curry as you like. I like it to take with a cup of tea.
