Ingredients

Serves : 4
  • 2 cups rice


  • 1/2 cup tamarind pulp


  • 1/2 cup gingelly oil


  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard seed


  • 2 tablespoon urad dal


  • 2 tablespoon chana dal


  • 1/2 teaspoon whole peppercorns


  • 1 teaspoon dhania seeds


  • 1/4 cup Peanut


  • 1/4 teaspoon cumin seeds


  • 1/4 fenugreek seeds


  • 4 sprigs curry leaves


  • 7 dried Red Chillies

Directions

  • Soak rice for 10 minutes
  • In a Kadhai at one teaspoon of oil and fry all the said ingredients (except rice,oil,peanut and tamarind pulp)one by one and keep it aside .Let it cool.
  • Meantime pressure cook rice and keep it aside.
  • ln a mixer coarsely grind the fried ingredients. Keep it aside.
  • In a Kadhai at the extra oil and add peanut,asafoetida and curry leaves to it.
  • Immediately add tamarind pulp to it. Let it thickens.
  • Now add coarsely ground powder to it.Puliogare mix is ready.
  • Mix the puliogare mixture to the cooked rice and thoroughly mix well.
  • My Amma's traditional Puliogare Rice is ready to serve .
