Ingredients

Serves : 4
  • Hilsa fish 4 pieces


  • Pointed gourd 2, peeled and cut to longitudinal halves


  • Potato 1 medium sized cut it length wise into four


  • Raw banana 1, cut in to two length wise


  • Brinjal 1/2 of of a small one, cut it length wise


  • Raw papaya 1/4 portion of it, cut it length wise


  • Radhuni (celery seeds) 1 teaspoon


  • Black mustard 1/2 teaspoon


  • Fenugreek seeds 1/4 teaspoon


  • Ginger paste 1 tablespoon


  • Green chillies 4-5, slitted


  • Mustard oil 3 tablespoon


  • Salt 2 teaspoon


  • Milk 1/2 cup

Directions

  • Wash, peal, dry and cut all the vegetables in this manner.
  • Marinate the fishes with salt for half an hour.
  • Take mustard oil in a Kadai and Fry them lightly from both sides till slightly golden and keep aside.
  • To the same Kadai fry the brinjal pieces and keep aside.
  • Add some oil in the Kadai, add 1/2 teaspoon celery seeds, mustard seeds and fenugreek seeds.
  • Once it gets aromatic add the ginger paste and slitted green chilies. Saute for a minute.
  • Add in rest of the vegetables and saute for two minutes. Add salt and some water. Cover and cook too the vegetables are almost cooked.
  • Meanwhile Make a paste with the rest of the celery seeds.
  • Add the fish pieces, milk, celery seeds paste and the fried brinjal. Let the stew come to a boil on a medium flame for 4-5 minutes.
  • Serve hot with rice.
