Aamras is basically a mango nectar.  It is a traditional recipe and delicious Indian summer golden delight which goes very well with pooris, or One can relish it just as it is for a refreshing experience.

Serves : 2
  • 2 large mangoes preferably Alphonso

  • 1/4 th cup milk(optional)

  • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar or as per the sweetness of the mangoes

  • 5 strands saffron/kesar

  • 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder

  • 1 mint sprig for the garnish


  • Rinse the mangoes(alphonso), peel and chop them.
  • Put the mango pieces in a blender jar. Add powdered sugar and saffron strands.
  • Blend the mangoes to smooth pulp.
  • To thin down the aamras, add milk.(optional)
  • Pour in small bowls and chill in refrigerator for 15 minutes.
  • Garnish with saffron strands and serve it chilled.
