Ingredients

Serves : 4
  • For stuffing:. 1 cup chana dal, soaked in water for atleast 3-4 hrs


  • 8-10 garlic pods


  • 1 inch ginger, peeled and chopped


  • 6-7 green chillies ( as per taste)


  • 1/2 cup green coriander leaves( optional)


  • 1 tsp cumin seeds


  • 1 tsp amchur powder( dry mango powder)


  • 1/2 tsp Chaat masala


  • Salt 1/2 tsp or to taste


  • For dough:. 2 cup rice flour


  • 1 cup hot water


  • 1/4 tsp salt


  • 2 tsp oil

Directions

  • For stuffing:
  • Grind all ingredients given under stuffing section to a coarse paste using minimal water. Keep aside till needed .
  • For dough:
  • Mix oil and salt in rice flour. Now using a spoon mix hot water in it little by little till it become a mass. Let it cool a bit , till you can handle it easily. Now knead it to a smooth soft dough. Let it rest for 10 mins.
  • **Don't add all water together, it may make dough runny. Use only required water.
  • For farra:
  • Take small lime size ball of dough and roll to a little tick poori. Now put 1 -2tbsp stuffing in centre. Apply water on edges of poori and carefully fold to half, stick by pressing edges together gently . Similarly make all farre.
  • Now boil 2 cup water in a pot or steamer and place slotted plate over it. Place farre on it and steam for 15-18 mins.
  • Your delicious healthy treat is ready to serve hot. Either serve it for lunch / dinner with your choice of Curry and pickles or cool it and slice , then shallow fry and serve as a snacks for your tea/coffee.
