Mathi Milagum Puzhiyum(Sardines Chilli Tamarind  curry )

Ingredients

Serves 6

  • 500g sardines (cleaned)

  • 1/2 cup Coconut grated

  • 2 cardamom pods

  • 1 clove

  • 1 tbsp Chilli powder(or according to your spice buds)

  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder

  • 2 tbsp Coriander powder

  • 2 tsp pepper powder

  • 1 onion chopped finely

  • 1 tomatoes chopped finely

  • 2 sprigs curry leaves

  • 6 tbsp tamarind juice

Directions

    Dry roast coconut slightly until it turns light brown.

    Add coriander powder, chilli powder, turmeric powder and pepper.

  • 03

    Bring the mixture to room temperature and grind it smoothly. You can add water while grinding.

    Heat a pot and add coconut oil.

  • 05

    Add chopped onions and saute until translucent.

  • 06

    Add the chopped tomatoes and curry leaves. Saute .

    Mix in the tamarind juice and the grinded masala.

    Adjust salt.

    Once it boils add the cleaned sardines and cook until done.

    Serve with hot rice .
