500g sardines (cleaned)
1/2 cup Coconut grated
2 cardamom pods
1 tbsp Chilli powder(or according to your spice buds)
1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
2 tbsp Coriander powder
2 tsp pepper powder
1 onion chopped finely
1 tomatoes chopped finely
2 sprigs curry leaves
6 tbsp tamarind juice
Dry roast coconut slightly until it turns light brown.
Add coriander powder, chilli powder, turmeric powder and pepper.
Bring the mixture to room temperature and grind it smoothly. You can add water while grinding.
Heat a pot and add coconut oil.
Add chopped onions and saute until translucent.
Add the chopped tomatoes and curry leaves. Saute .
Mix in the tamarind juice and the grinded masala.
Once it boils add the cleaned sardines and cook until done.
Serve with hot rice .
