Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. let it crackle.
Add garlic, curry leaves, hing and saute for a minute.
Add onion and salt. mix it well and wait till onion turns translucent.
add tomato and red chilly powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder and mix well.
Add dal and bring it to a boil. Transfer chgopped palak and cook for a minute.
Roughly mash the khichadi and transfer into the dal. cook for 5 minutes and serve hot.
you can do the tempering with dries red chilly.
