Andhra Chicken Curry

Ingredients

Serves : 4
  • 500g chicken


  • 1 onion chopped


  • 1 tomato finely chopped


  • 4-5 green chillies


  • 7-8 curry leaves


  • 5-6 tbsp oil


  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds


  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds


  • 1 teaspoon garam masala


  • 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste


  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric


  • 1 teaspoon salt or as per taste


  • 4 tbsp coriander leaves to garnish


  • 1 inch ginger


  • 4-5 garlic cloves


  • 2-3 cloves


  • 1 inch cinnamon stick


  • 1 teaspoon poppy seeds


  • 1 tbsp grated coconut


  • 1 tbsp coriander seeds


  • 1 tbsp red chilli powder adjust

Directions

  • Marinate chicken with salt, 1/2 tbsp red chilli powder turmeric and ginger garlic paste for 1 hour
  • Dry roast whole spices and grind spices with coconut to form smooth paste
  • Heat oil in a pan. Splutter cumin and mustard seeds
  • Add onions, green chillies and curry leaves. Saute until translucent
  • Add tomatoes , red chilli powder and saute until mushy
  • Add chicken and ground paste. Mix well
  • Cover and cook until done, stirring occasionally. Check for seasoning
  • Add garam masala and mix well. Cook for a minute
  • Garnish with chopped coriander leaves. Serve hot with rice or roti
