  • 1 cup chickpea dal

  • 1 Cup tuvar dal

  • 1/2 cup mung dal

  • 1/2 teaspoon fennel seeds

  • 1 finely chop onion

  • 1 tbsp or as per your taste salt

  • 1 tablespoon curry leaves

  • 2 tbsp shop green coriander

  • 4 finally chop green chilli

  • 1 tbsp chili powder


  • Soake all dal 2-3 hour
  • Drain the excess water from the dals and grind the dals coarsely without adding water. 
  • Add the chopped onions, chopped green chillies, ginger pieces, chopped curry leaves, coriander leaves, crushed fennel seeds and salt to the ground batter and mix everything well.
  • Make small balls with the palms and flatten them. Make a hole in center of vada.
  • Arrange the flattened vadas over the idly plates lined with parchment paper.
  • Steam cook for 10-15 minutes in an idly cooker and enjoy warm with ketchup or chutneys.
