Ingredients

Serves 4

  • pomfret fish/ vaaval Meen - 500 grams

  • Gingelly oil-4tblspn

  • Fenugreek-1/2tsp

  • Saunf-1tsp

  • Shallots-15

  • Tomato-3pureed

  • Chilli Powder - 1 tblsp

  • Coriander Powder - 2 tblsp

  • Turmeric Powder - 1 tsp

  • Tamarind Pulp - 1 small lemon size

  • Water as needed-1/2cup

  • Salt-2spn or to taste

Directions

    Heat gingelly oil in a earthernware pot. Add fennel seeds and fenugreek. Let it sizzle. Add in shallots and green chillies and mix well.

    Add tomato puree and mix well. Cook till oil separates.

  • 03

    Add in all spice powders and mix well.

  • 04

    Add tamarind water, salt, water and mix well.

  • 05

    Simmer for 10 to 15 mins. Add in fish pieces and simmer for 10 mins.
