Ingredients

Serves : 6
  • 1 kgs beef chopped into small pieces


  • 3 nos onions finely sliced


  • 1 cups yam chopped


  • 1/2 tsp ginger garlic paste


  • 1 tbsp ginger garlic crushed


  • 3 nos green chillies


  • 2 sprig curry leaves


  • 10 nos shallots


  • 1 1/2 cups freshly grated coconut


  • 1 nos cinnamon stick


  • 1 tsp fennel seeds


  • 1 tbsp black peppercorns


  • 2 nos dry red chillies


  • 2 tbsp coconut slices


  • 1 tsp turmeric powder


  • 2 tbsp red chilli powder


  • Red chilli powder 1 1/2 tbsp


  • 1 tbsp garam masala powder


  • 1 tbsp beef roast / meat masala


  • 2 tsp salt


  • 4 tbsp coconut oil

Directions

  • Pressure cook beef with Turmeric powder, black pepper powder, sliced onions( 1 ) ,ginger garlic paste and salt for 3 whistles.
  • Dry roast freshly grated coconut,shallots,cinnamon stick,fennel seeds and black peppercorns till they turn brown.
  • Grind this into fine paste by adding water.
  • Heat oil in a pan,add sliced onions,curry leaves, green chillies and salt and saute till onions starts to brown.
  • Add crushed ginger garlic and saute till the raw smell goes off.
  • Add turmeric powder,red chilli powder, coriander powder,garam masala powder and mix well.
  • Add ground paste and beef roast masala and cook till oil starts appearing,stirring intermittently.
  • Add cooked beef and chopped yam to the gravy and mix well. Cover and cook for 15 mins on low flame.
  • Add sliced Coconut pieces and cook for another 5 mins.
  • When the gravy becomes thick, add finely chopped coriander leaves and mix.
  • Switch off the flame and keep it covered for atleast 1 hour before serving.
