mix all the ingredients mentioned under the spiced water and keep aside.
Heat oil in a wok and add bay leaf, cumin seeds and mustard seeds and let them splutter.
Add dried red chillies and onions and saute till onions are little soft. Dont let them change colour.
Then add in the spiced water kept aside and let it cook for about 3 to 4 minutes stirring continuously
Now add kale chane (black chickpeas) and cook it on low to medium heat for about 10 to 12 minutes till right consistency is reached.
Serve kale chane ka khatta with steamed rice and salad.
