Ingredients
Serves 6
Wheat flour 2 cups
Maize flour 1 cups
Carom seeds 1 tsp
Curd 1 cups
Salt as required 1 tsp
turmeric powder 1 tsp
Oil 2 tsp
Water to knead the dough 1 cups
Ghee 2 cups
Toor daal 1 cups
Oil 2 tsp
Mustard seeds 1 tsp
Cumin seeds 1 tsp
Green chilli ginger paste 1 tsp
Red chilli powder 1 tsp
Asafoetida 1/4 tsp
Lemon juice 1 tsp
Jaggery 1 tsp
Curry leaves few 8-10 nos
Peanuts 1 tsp
Coriander leaves 2 tsp
Cardamom powder 1 tsp
Directions
Mix wheat flour,maize flour,carom seeds,curd,turmeric powder ,oil properly with your hands forming a crumble texture..
Add water and knead the dough to seminar soft form...
Cover and keep for 30 min
Make small equal sized balls and form round batis by pressing between your palms and make a hole inbetween with your thumb pressing gently..
Steam all the dumplings in steamer for 10 min..
Let it dry for 15 min..
Now roast the batis in bati maker or oven by flipping it all the sides evenly till they are dusky brown in colour..
Once done...dip them directly in ghee for 5 min and keep in serving bowl..
Pressure cook daal by adding peanuts in it for 3-4 whistles..
Heat oil in a wok...add Mustard and cumin seeds and wait till they crackle
Add asafoedia,curry leaves,green chilli ginger paste and saute for few min
Now add turmeric ,Red chilli powder and cooked churned toor daal and boil for 5 min
Add lemon juice ,jaggery,and 1 cup water and boil for 10 min to enhance the flavour..
Serve hot by garnishing coriander
To make churma...grind 2-3 roasted batis in jar for 1 min...
Add powdered sugar,cardamom powder and mix welll
