  • 2 cups for cover scented rice flour

  • 1/2 tbsp butter or ghee

  • 2 cups water

  • 1/4 tsp salt

  • 2 cups for filling fresh greated coconut

  • 1/4 cups jaggery

  • 2 tbsp poppyseeds roasted

  • 1 tsp cardamom powder

  • 1 tsp cardamom


  • For cover Boil water in a thick bottom pan.
  • Add ghee,salt and rice flour.
  • Mix properly with the help of wodden rolling pin.
  • Switch off the gas,cover it and keep for 10 minutes.
  • For filling ,In kadhaie add 2 Tbsp water and bring it to boil add jaggery.
  • When jaggery melts completely then add greated coconut.
  • When mixture looks nicely together then add poppyseed cardamom
  • Now khnead the rice flour dough nicely using oil on a hand.
  • Take small ball of rice flour dough,and make katori round shspe of it.
  • Fill 1 tsp of mixture of filling in it.
  • Make equal size plits and close properly.
  • Boil water for steaming.
  • In a plate or steaming plate arrang all modak and steam them fotr 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Serves hot modak with desi ghee.
