Heat ghee in heavy bottom pan. Fry coconut pieces until brown.drain and keep it aside. in same pan, fry raisins until plump. drain and keep it aside. in same pan, fry cashews until golden brown and keep it aside
Now add dal and fry for few minutes until golden brown
Add 3 cups water and bring to boil. Once it boils, reduce the heat. Cook until dal is half done
Melt jaggery in 2 cups water over medium heat. Keep stirring until completely melted. Syrup should reach one string consistency
Transfer dal to heavy bottom pan. Sieve and add jaggery syrup. Mix well
Cook for few minutes over medium heat
Add second coconut milk and stir well. Bring to boil stirring constantly until mixture thickens
Finally add thick coconut milk and cook for a minute. Switch off. Keep stirring until well combined. Do not boil thick coconut milk
Add cumin powder, cardamom powder and ginger powder. Mix well
Finally add firued cashews, raisins, coconut bits with 1/2 teaspoon ghee. Serve warm or cold
