Serves : 4
  • 1 cups rava

  • 1 nos sliced onion

  • 1 nos chopped tomatoes

  • 1/4 cups grated carrot

  • 1 tsp grated ginger

  • 1 tsp mustard seeds

  • 1 tsp chana dal

  • 1 tsp urad dal

  • 1 tsp salt to taste

  • 2 1/2 cups water

  • 2 nos chopped green chillies

  • 2 nos dried red chillies

  • 1 tbsp coriander leaves

  • 2 tbsp cashew nuts


  • dry roast Rava for 3 to 4 minutes and keep aside
  • don't over roasr the Rava don't let its colour change
  • heat oil in a pan
  • add mustard seeds, chana dal, urad dal and let them splutter
  • now add dried Red Chillies and Saute for a minute
  • add few curry leaves and saute for a minute
  • add grated ginger and green chillies and saute
  • now add sliced onion and saute till it is translucent
  • now add chopped tomatoes and grated carrot and saute for a minute
  • add cashew nuts and salt, mix nicely, cover and let it cool for 2 minutes.
  • open the lid and add fresh coriander leaves and mix.
  • now add water and cover the pan to give water a boil
  • when the water starts boiling simmer the heat and add the Rava and keep on stirring so that there are no lumps
  • Rava will Soak all The Water and will leave the sides of the pan
  • add juice of one lemon and mix nicely and let it cook for another 1 minute covered.
  • Rava Upma is ready garnish it with some coriander leaves and serve hot with Ginger chutney or coconut chutney
