Ingredients

  • 500g boneless chicken


  • 4 tbsp yogurt


  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder


  • 1 teaspoon chicken masala/ garam masala


  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice


  • 1.5 tbsp kashmiri chilli powder


  • 1 teaspoon salt or as per taste


  • 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste


  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper


  • 3 onions finely chopped


  • 3 tomatoes roughly chopped


  • 2 teaspoon melon seeds


  • 3 tbsp cashews


  • 1 bAy leaf


  • 4 cardamom


  • 3 cloves


  • 1 strand javitri


  • 1 inch cinnamon stick


  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds


  • 1/2 cup cream


  • 3/4 teaspoon salt or as per taste


  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala


  • 1 tbsp kashmiri chilli powder


  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric


  • 1.5 tbsp coriander powder


  • 3 tbsp chopped coriander leaves


  • 1 teaspoon lime juice


  • 1 small capscicum cubed


  • 1 tomato cubed


  • 3 tbsp oil


  • 1 tablespoon ginger garlic paste


  • 1 onion cubed

Directions

  • Marinate chicken with yoghurt, cumin powder, salt, ginger garlic paste, lemon juice, kashmiri chilli powder, pepper and chicken masala for 1-2 hours
  • Insert chicken into skewers. Grease grill pan and place chicken on it
  • Alternately this can be grilled in tandoor or oven
  • Chicken should be well browned on all sides. Keep cooked chicken tikka aside
  • Grind tomatoes, cashews and melon seeds to smooth puree
  • Heat oil in a pan, add bay leaf and all whole spices. Splutter cumin seeds
  • Add chopped onions and saute until browned
  • Add ginger garlic paste and saute until raw aroma goes away
  • Add all spice powders except garam masala and mix well
  • Add salt and ground puree. Mix well until oil starts leaving sides of the pan
  • Cut chicken tikka into smaller pieces
  • Add tikka to pan and mix well
  • Add 1 cup or more water and bring to boil. Adjust water as consistency required for gravy
  • Add cubed onions and cook for 3-4 minutes
  • Add cubed capsicum and tomatoes. Cook for 2 minutes
  • Add coriander leaves,cream, lime juice, garam masala. Mix well for a minute. switch off
  • Serve hot with kulcha, pulao or roti
