Wash and soak rice in a large bowl with enough water atleast for 4 hours.
Drain the water completely and transfer the rice into a blender and add salt to taste.
Blend to smooth paste adding water as required.
Add 2 tsp of coconut oil to a thick bottomed pan.
Transfer the ground batter into this pan or kadai.
Add remaining cups of water, give a good mix.
Keep the flame on low and keep stirring until it forms a dough.
When the spatula stands straight in dough stop stirring and take off flame.
Allow it to warm for 5 minutes.
Now, wet the hands with cold water and start preparing cylindrical shaped balls.
Then immediately place in a steamer.
Steam for 30 minutes in medium flame.
Now take noodles mould and fix to the chakli maker or directly take shyavige maker, furthermore grease with few drops of oil.
Now take steamed dough balls one by one and place them inside maker.
Keep steaming or covering the lid for rest balls else they will turn hard.
Press the shyavige or chakli maker, press in circular motion.
Keep aside and follow same for remaining.
Have it with coconut milk, pickle, jam or with anything else as your wish.
