Moong Dal 1/2 cups
Split wheat 1/2 cups
Rice 1/2 cups
Minced Onion 1 tbsp
Ginger garlic paste 1 tsp
Cumin seeds 1 tsp
Salt and chilly according to taste 1 pinch
Asafoetida 1 pinch
Garam masala 1 tsp
Dhaniya powder 1 tsp
Few Coriander leaves to garnish 8-10 nos
Desi ghee 1 tbsp
Water 4 cups
First wash moong dal, rice and split wheat 3-4 times and keep aside.
Now heat ghee in a pressure cooker. Add cumin seeds and asafoetida . Roast for few seconds and add ginger garlic paste with onions.
Now saute onions till raw aroma goes off.Now add all spices except garam masala and saute for few seconds more.
Add water in cooker with washed split wheat, moong dal and rice.
Now lid the cooker and cook till 2 whistles. Switch off the flame.
Open the cooker when steam releases itself. Boil once again with open lid and switch off the flame.
Garnish with coriander leaves, garam masala and red chilly.
Serve hot with roasted papad and pickle . Tihri is ready to enjoy in mom's way.
It is a complete meal with having all essential nutrients and can be enjoyed in any time of day.
