Ingredients

Serves : 5
  • 1/2 cups moong dal


  • 1/2 cups split wheat


  • 1/2 cups rice


  • 1 tbsp minced onion


  • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste


  • 1 tsp cumin seeds


  • 1 pinch salt and chilly according to taste


  • 1 pinch asafoetida


  • 1 tsp garam masala


  • 1 tsp dhaniya powder


  • 8-10 nos few coriander leaves to garnish


  • 1 tbsp desi ghee


  • 4 cups water

Directions

  • First wash moong dal, rice and split wheat 3-4 times and keep aside.
  • Now heat ghee in a pressure cooker. Add cumin seeds and asafoetida . Roast for few seconds and add ginger garlic paste with onions.
  • Now saute onions till raw aroma goes off.Now add all spices except garam masala and saute for few seconds more.
  • Add water in cooker with washed split wheat, moong dal and rice.
  • Now lid the cooker and cook till 2 whistles. Switch off the flame.
  • Open the cooker when steam releases itself. Boil once again with open lid and switch off the flame.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves, garam masala and red chilly.
  • Serve hot with roasted papad and pickle . Tihri is ready to enjoy in mom's way.
  • It is a complete meal with having all essential nutrients and can be enjoyed in any time of day.
