Ingredients

Serves : 2
  • 1/2 cups pigeon peas


  • 1/2 cups moong dal


  • 14 nos dry red chillies


  • 5 tsp coriander seeds


  • 4 tsp pepper corn


  • 3 tsp cumin seeds


  • 1/2 tsp hing


  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds


  • 7-8 nos curry leaves


  • 1 tsp chopped ginger


  • 5 nos garlic cloves


  • 1/2 tsp haldi powder


  • 1 tsp chilli powder


  • 2 nos tomato cut into slices


  • 3 tbsp tamarind pulp


  • 1 cups cooked toor dal


  • 2 tsp spice mix or powder


  • 1 tbsp salt

Directions

  • Roast the pigeon or toor dal and moog dal till they get brown color
  • Add dry red chillies and roast it
  • After roasting keep them aside or put them in a mixer jar.
  • Now take another pan and roast half cumin seeds and after half min add peper corns and coriander seeds .
  • Roast them by adding hing
  • When all the ingredients of spice powder are roasted then put them into the mixer jar to grind into fine powder
  • Now take a thick heavy bottom pan or kadai by adding coconut oil.
  • Heat it and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds,red chillies,ginger,garlic,curry leaves,haldi powder and 2 tsp spice mix powder which we have made by grinding.
  • Mix everything well add tomato slices and water to it.
  • Cook it so that tomatoes are cooked.
  • Now add tamarind pulp or extract to it.
  • mix it well and cover it with the lid.
  • After 10 min stir it and switch off the flame.
  • Now rasam is ready to serve
  • Serve it with rice or you can have it as soup.
