Ingredients

Serves : 4
  • 250 gms chickpeas


  • 1 nos large onion finely chopped


  • 1 nos tomato


  • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste


  • 1 inch cinnamon stick


  • 1 nos bay leaf


  • 1 tsp mustard seeds


  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder


  • 1 1/2 tsp red chilly powder


  • 1 1/2 tsp salt


  • 1/2 tsp chole masala


  • 1 pinch garam masala

Directions

  • Soak chickpeas overnight and pressure cook for 5 whistles by adding some salt in it..
  • Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. When it splatter add ginger garlic paste and onions.
  • In a blender blend tomato until smooth and add it in the onions.
  • Add some salt, haldi, red chilly powder and mix well.
  • Meanwhile take 1 handful chickpeas and mash it roughly.
  • When tomato leaves oil add chickpeas along with mashed mixture and mix it gently.
  • Add the remaining stock of chickpeas in the pan and bring it boil.
  • Add a pinch of garam masala and some chole masala.
  • Garnish with onions, coriander and serve hot with puri, bhatura or naan.
