Ingredients

Serves : 2
  • Chapatis or Phulkas 4-5


  • Chana dal flour 1 cup


  • Carrom seeds 1/2 teaspoon


  • Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon


  • Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon


  • Tamarind pulp 1/2 tablespoon


  • Oil 2 tablespoons


  • Sesame seeds 1/2 tablespoon


  • Mustard seeds 1/2 teaspoon


  • Salt to taste approximately 1 teaspoon

Directions

  • In a mixing bowl take chana dal flour, carrom seeds, salt to taste, turmeric powder, red chilli powder amd tamarind pulp
  • Mix well everything and prepare a thick paste using some water
  • Take a chapati , apply ready paste on it and place another chapati on it
  • Apply some more paste on it and place another chapati on it amd and again apply some more chana dal paste
  • Carefully roll it in to a bundle and apply paste all over to covere it
  • Apply some oil on microwave safe dish and place this bundle on it
  • Steam it for 10 minutes , just like idli or dhokla
  • You can use regular steamer also , if don't want to use microwave
  • After steaming , let the bundle cool for some time amd then cut in to rolls
  • Heat oil in a pan , add mustard seeds, let them Splutter
  • Add pinch of asafoetida and Sesame seeds , saute for a while and add cut rolls
  • Saute' from both sides, for some time on low heat
  • Chapati patras are ready to serve , serve hot immediately with tomato sauce or green chutney
  • This is my innovative recipe , here I have used left over chapatis , and given makeover to it. You can use fresh chapatis too .
