Ingredients

Serves : 4
  • 1 cup Sabudana pearls


  • 1 1/2 teaspoon Salt


  • 3 green chillies


  • 3-4 meduim size potatoes


  • 1/2 cup peanuts


  • 1 teaspoon cumin coarse powder


  • 1 teaspoon red chilli powder


  • 2 cups refined oil for frying

Directions

  • Wash and soak Sabudana pearls at least for 6 hours or overnight
  • Dry roast peanuts till brown spots appear on them. Let them cool for a minute. Crush between palms and remove the skin.
  • In a mixer pulse the peanuts to coarse powder
  • Peel and grate potatoes ( raw) and add to Sabudana.
  • Also add in the peanuts.
  • Add all the spices, chopped green chillies and salt.
  • These wadas are mostly eaten during fast only replace normal salt with the salt used for fasting, called as senda-namak in Maharashtra.
  • Mix the mixture well. Potatoes will leave out some moisture, which will work as binding agent.
  • Pinch a big lemon sized dough and make a ball. Slightly flatten with palm. Prepare such wadas from all the dough
  • Heat oil in a pan on medium heat.
  • Put 2 or 3 wadas at one time and fry until golden brown from both sides.
  • Serve hot with chutney or curd.
