Ingredients
Serves 2
hilsa or any other fish 3 piece
oil 3 tbsp
ghee 2 tbsp
onions sliced 2 nos
ginger & garlic pastel 1 tbsp
red chili powder 1 tsp
turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
cumin powder 1/2 tsp
salt or to taste 1 tsp
curd 1/2 cups
green chilies 2 nos
coconut milk 1 cups
basmati rice, soaked for 30 minuets 1 cups
ghee or oil 1-2 tbsp
cinnamon stick 1 inch
cardamoms 2 nos
cloves 4 nos
bay leaves 2 nos
sliced onion 1 nos
fried onion 2 tbsp
green chilies 2 nos
kewra water 1 tsp
chopped coriander leaves 1 tsp
Directions
Marinate fish with a pinch of salt, turmeric and chili powder for 10 minutes.
Heat oil and ghee. Sauté onion till light bread. Add ginger and garlic paste and fry for a minute.
Add all dry spices and mix well.
Add curd and green chilies. Simmer for a minute.
Add coconut milk and simmer for a minute more.
Add the fish and cook, covered for 4 to 5 minutes.
Switch off the flame and keep aside.
Add ghee or oil in a separate pan and temper with whole garam masala and bay leaves. Add onion and sauté till light brown.
Add soaked rice and stir for 2 minutes
Add 4 tbsp. of the gravy, salt and 1 & 1/2 cups water. Cook till the rice is done.
