Ingredients

Serves : 3
  • Rice (basmati long grain) 250 grams


  • Onion 1 big chopped


  • Peas 1 small bowl


  • Carrot 1 chopped into strips


  • Capsicum 1 diced


  • Green chillies 2 Chopped finely


  • Bay leaf 2


  • Oil 2 tbsp


  • Ghee 2 tbsp


  • Hing 2 pinches


  • Black peppers 5


  • Cinnamon stick 1 inch piece


  • Cardamom 2


  • Cloves 5


  • Salt as per taste or 2 tsp


  • Biryani masala 2 tsp


  • Curd 1 cup


  • Red chilli powder 1 tsp

Directions

  • Soak the rice for 15 mins . Drain water and keep aside
  • Heat a cooker.
  • Add oil. Add hing bay leaf and the whole peppers cinnamon cardamom and cloves
  • Add the onion . Fry till a bit crisp
  • Add the veggies and green chillies
  • Add salt and red chilli powder
  • Mix well
  • Add the curd and biryani masala
  • Mix properly
  • Now add the rice on the top of the veggies.
  • Add water . The amount should be a bit less than double the amount of rice
  • Close the lid of the cooker and cook on low flame for 15 minutes .
  • Open the lid and add ghee on top layer
  • To serve remove a layer from below and top again with another layer
  • Serve with raita .
