Ingredients

  • Chana dal ..1cup


  • Rice any variety..3 cup


  • Desi ghee ..1 tbspoon


  • Bay leaf ..1


  • Badi elaichi. 2


  • Black pepper corns. .7-8


  • Heeng ..1 pinch


  • Star anise .. 1


  • Onion...1medium sized chopped


  • Tomato..1 medium sized chopped


  • Turmeric..1/2 tsp


  • Salt..1 1/2 tsp or to taste


  • Garam masala..1 tsp


  • Degi mirch powder .. 1 tsp


  • Red chilly whole..1

Directions

  • Soak chana dal n rice together after washing them. ..properly.
  • Don't discard this water it use at the time of cooking .. Keep it . Soaked for half an hour .
  • Now in a pressure cooker add ghee , jeera Allow it to splutter add heeng .
  • Add chopped onions allow them to caramelise by putting salt ..
  • Add tomatoes add little water to soften them quickly
  • Add turmeric, red chilly powder, black pepper corns , Badi elaichi, Bay leaf.
  • Now pour presoaked chana dal rice. Stir it and add the required amount of water.
  • Close the lid of the pressure cooker Allow it to cook it for 10 minutes. First on high flame and then for 5 mints on low flame ..
  • yummy healthy khichadi is ready .
  • Tip : Can add sum veggies like carrot and beans in it .
