Total Time : 40 Min

Ingredients

Serves : 6
  • Spinach small fresh bunches 5 to 6

  • Gram flour 1 cup

  • Turmeric 1/2 a tsp

  • Salt 1 tsp

  • Red chilli powder 1 tsp

  • Ginger garlic paste 1 tsp

  • Water 1/2 cup 2 tbsp

Directions

  • Make a thick batter using all the ingredients at first. Now wash and separate the spinach leaves and remove the stalks.
  • Take just the leaf part. Otherwise it will be difficult to make roses.
  • Arrange the leaves in a line overlapping each other a little. Next, apply some gram flour mix to each leaf at the overlapping end to fix them firmly. Now after applying the paste to all, comes the rolling part.
  • Roll them starting from the first leaf till the last one. While rolling, do it carefully. After you finish rolling it, secure them up with toothpicks either 1 or 2.
  • After making all like this, deep fry them in hot oil on medium to high flame by carefully turning them taking care all the while. Dip these in the gram flour batter and fry.
  • Do not dip them much in the batter and do not coat them fully like we do for pakoras. Dip them just lightly. This is to make sure that spinach retains it's colour and the roses should look green with little gram flour batter just here and there.
  • Serve them immediately to your lovely kids with their favourite tomato ketchup alongside.
  • An amazingly beautiful snack recipe for the kids this Children's Day. It is my innovative recipe made especially for all the lovely kids out there. It is a bit tedious process but the end result is just awesome. Looks gorgeous as well. It is made with the simple pantry ingredients available in every kitchen. What's more ? It is made with spinach and though fried, these are still a nutritious option, and even the most fussy kid would also might love to eat them. The presentation afterall does matter a lot. They will gobble them up one by one and you as a mother just relax and see them enjoying these lovely spinach roses.
