Ingredients

Serves : 4
  • 250 gms ivy guard


  • 4 smashed garlic pods


  • 2 green chillies


  • 3-4 pinch red chilli powder


  • 3 -4 pinch coriander powder


  • 1 pinch turmeric powder


  • 1/4 teaspoon mustard seeds


  • 1/4 teaspoon urad dal


  • 5 curry leaves


  • 15 -20 ml oil


  • Salt 2taste


  • 2 onions sliced


  • 1/2 tomato chopped


  • 1/2 handful grated coconut

Directions

  • Slice the ivy gourd and into it add the powdered spices, green chilly and keep aside.
  • Heat oil and add the curry leaves, urad dal, mustard seeds, garlic and let the mustard seeds splutter.
  • Add the onions and allow them to cook
  • Add the tomato and cook for a minute.
  • Add the ivy gourd and fry for a minute
  • Add 150 ml water, turn the heat to low, cover the pan and allow it to cook for good 15 minutes.
  • Add salt, grated coconut, mix well,cook for few seconds on high flame. serve hot with meals or with rotis
