Ingredients

Serves 3

  • Rice (India gate tukda basmati)200 grams

  • Onion 1 finely chopped

  • Oil 2 tbsp

  • Bay leaf 1

  • Paneer cubes of 200 grams paneer

  • Tomato puree of 1 tomato

  • Salt 1 tsp or as per taste

  • Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp

  • Ghee 1 tbsp

  • Red chilli powder as preffered or 1 tsp

  • Hing 1 pinch

  • Water 1/2 litre

  • Chopped coriander leaves 1 sprig

    Wash and soak the rice for 10 minutes

    Drain water and keep aside

  • 03

    In a pan heat oil

  • 04

    Fry the paneer cubes till golden in colour and keep aside

  • 05

    Add hing bay leaf and saute a bit

  • 06

    Add chopped onions and fry till they are golden

  • 07

    Add the tomato puree

  • 08

    Add turmeric powder and salt

  • 09

    Add Red chilli powder too

  • 10

    Add the rice

    Add paneer

    Mix well so that each grain gets coated with oil

    Add water (double the amount of rice)

  • 14

    Transfer to a cooker and cook for two whistles. Add chopped coriander

  • 15

    When the cooker cools down add ghee over the rice

  • 16

    Serve with raita
