Ingredients

Serves : 4
  • 1tsp Aashali (caraway seed)


  • 1tsp fenugreek


  • 1tsp cumin seeds


  • 1tsp black cumin


  • 1tsp uzhinja


  • 1tsp thazhuthama(boerhaavia)


  • 1tsp common wire weed( kurunthotti)


  • 1tsp mountain knotgrass(cherula)


  • 1tsp biophytum or little tree(mukkutti)


  • 1tsp stone breaker( keezharnelli)


  • 250gm Kerala red rice or Navara rice


  • Coconut milk or cow milk 200ml


  • 1 liter water


  • Salt 1pinch


  • Vattumkaya 1


  • Ghee2tsp


  • Small onion 25gm


  • 1 Piece dried fish fry

Directions

  • Boil all the ingredients taken in 1 teaspoon quantity along with Navara rice.
  • Once the rice are cooked, add the milk and simmer it for 5 minutes.
  • Sprinkle some salt for the taste .
  • Stir the mixture well.
  • Heat the ghee in a pan and add the chopped shallots,(small onion) stir fry to a golden brown colour and take it off from the flame.
  • Pour this tempering over the porridge and mix it well.
  • Serve this hot Karkidaka Kanji or Oushadha Kanji With a dried fish fry..
