Ingredients

Serves : 2
  • 1 cup wheat flour


  • 1 cup powdered sugar


  • 1/2 cup Fresh Malai


  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla essence


  • 20-25 saffron strands


  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder


  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda


  • 1 cup milk or as required


  • 2 teaspoon ghee for greasing appepan

Directions

  • Firstly mix the cream/malai with sugar and beat well. Set aside.
  • Now sieve wheat flour, baking soda, baking powder 3 times and on the other side dissolve saffron in 1 cup milk.
  • Now add both the mixtures​ of maida and milk into the malai mixture and whisk it properly. No lumps should be there.
  • Add some more milk if needed to break the lumps. Stir constantly while mixing.
  • Now add vanilla essence and stir. Add generous pinch of yellow colour ( optional ) and stir well.
  • Now put appe pan on gas, heat it a little and add 1 drop of ghee in each block.
  • Now pour the batter and cover the pan with lid. Cook on slow to medium flame. Check in between.
  • The cake is ready in 8 -10 minutes. Check if done with the help of a toothpick.
