Ingredients

Serves 4

  • 2 cups flour

  • 1/4 cup sugar

  • 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon baking powder

  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1 and 3/4 cups of buttermilk(unsalted; used for baking)

  • 1/3 cup melted butter

  • 2 large eggs

  • 2 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1/2 teaspoon Apple cider vinegar

  • 2 tablespoon red food colouring/beet powder

  • 1 cup of chopped mixed fruits

Directions

    Whisk the flour, sugar, baking powder, cocoa and salt in a large bow

  • 02

    Beat the buttermilk, melted butter, eggs, vanilla and vinegar together in separate medium bowl until smooth

  • 03

    stir in the red food coloring

  • 04

    Add the buttermilk mixture to the dry ingredients and whisk until smooth.

    Heat your waffle iron after spraying some cooking oil

  • 06

    pour about 1 cup of the waffle batter onto the waffle grid.

  • 07

    Close and cook until the waffle is deep red and crisp on the outside, about 3 minutes.

  • 08

    Repeat with the remaining waffle batter.

  • 09

    serve warm topped with chopped fruits or ice creams
