Boil the chana with some salt till soft .
In a deep pan add oil and crackle cumin seeds and asafetida for 1 minutes .
Add the onions , ginger and garlic paste and saute til golden brown in colors .
Add in all spices and cook till oil separates . Pour in the tomato puree and cook till oil separate . Now add a dash of tomato sauce and mix well .
Add in the chana and mix well till everything is combined . Add in some salt and sugar and mix well .
Now pour in water and bring to boil . Cover and simmer till oil separate .
Squeeze in some lemon juice .
Garnish with coriander leaves and spring onion .
