Ingredients

Serves : 3
  • Ingredients for kofte : 2 cups grated lauki


  • 4 tablespoon besan (gram flour)


  • 1/4 teaspoon garam masala powder


  • 1/4 teaspoon red chilly powder


  • 1 green chili - finely chopped


  • Salt 1 teaspoon


  • 1/2 litre oil for deep frying the koftas


  • Gravy ingredients : 2 large tomatoes - roughly chopped


  • 1 medium sized onion - roughly chopped


  • 1 green chilly finely chopped


  • Ginger garlic paste 1 teaspoon


  • 2 tablespoon broken cashews(kaju)


  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds


  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder(lal mirch powder)


  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder


  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder(dhania powder)


  • 1 teaspoon garam masala


  • Water 1 cup


  • 2 tablespoon oil


  • Salt 1 teaspoon

Directions

  • Process of kofta making :
  • Rinse and peel the lauki (bottle gourd). grate it.squeeze the grated lauki and collect the juice in a bowl or mug. keep the juice aside.
  • Mix all the ingredients for making the koftas with the grated lauki except oil.
  • Now heat the oil. make small round shaped balls or patties and deep fry in oil till golden brown. drain on paper tissues.
  • Gravy preparation :
  • Blend all the ingredients mentioned under "Gravy ingredients " with little water to a smooth paste.
  • Now heat 2 tablespoon oil.
  • Add cumins to splutter. Now add ready paste.
  • Saute for 8-10 minutes and then add all the spices. keep sauting till the masala starts releasing oil .
  • Add water and simmer for 10-12 minutes. lastly add the fried lauki kofta.
  • Switch off the flame and lid the pan for 5 minutes
  • Garnish with coriander leaves and serve lauki kofta curry hot with jeera rice, chapati or parantha.
