Ingredients

Serves : 4
  • For the koftas : Grated lauki (bottle gourd) - 1.5 cup


  • Chopped onion - 1


  • Chopped ginger - 1 tsp


  • Chopped green chillies - 1 tbsp


  • Red chilly powder - 1/4 th tsp


  • Besan - 1/4 th cup


  • Rice flour - 2 tbsp


  • Salt - 1/2 tsp


  • For the curry : Chopped onion - 1


  • Ginger garlic paste - 1 tsp


  • Chopped tomatoes - 2


  • Turmeric powder - 1 tsp


  • Red chilly powder - 1/2 tsp


  • Kashmir red chilly powder - 1/2 tsp


  • Jeera powder - 1/2 tsp


  • Garam masala powder - 1/2 tsp


  • Curd - 3 tbsp


  • Coriander leave (handful) - 2 tbsp


  • Salt - 1 tsp


  • Refined oil - 1 tbsp

Directions

  • Grate the bottle gourd and leave it aside for 10 minutes so that it leaves all the excess water out.
  • Then squeeze the lauki and add rest of the ingredients mentioned under "for koftas" together to form a thick batter.
  • Heat ample amount of oil in a kadhai, drop the batter in the form of dumplings and deep fry the pakodas. Strain and keep aside.
  • To make the gravy, heat another pan with little oil. Add the chopped onion and saute till golden brown.
  • Then add the ginger garlic paste and saute further.
  • Add the chopped tomatoes, saute for few seconds and add all the powdered masalas along with salt.
  • Once the tomatoes become mushy, add the curd and keep stirring vigorously.
  • Leave it cook till the masala leaves oil.The add some water,bring upto boil. Add the fried koftas, sprinkle the coriander leaves. Check for seasoning and serve.
