For Panchmel Dal preparation:: clean and wash the dals, pressure cook with four cups of water until dals are completely cooked
in a bowl, combine the chili powder turmeric coriander powder Garam Masala with 3 tablespoons of water mix well and keep it aside
melt the gher in a pan add cloves, bay leaf, jeera green chillies and asafoetida .When jeera crackles, add the prepared above masala paste and stir for 1 to 2 minutes
add the cooked Dal, amchoor powder, tamarind Pulp and salt. simmer and cook for 5 to 7 minutes; adjust the consistency of the dal and if required add some water . switch off the heat
For preparing Battis: Mix all ingredients mentioned under Batti section. Knead for 5-7 minutes to form firm dough. Rest it for 15 minutes
This can be cooked either in gas tandoor or oven. I have made it in oven preheat the oven to 180 degree and line the baking tray
divide the dough into equal portions flatten between the palms it will have cracks which is ok. place them on the baking tray and bake for 25 to 30 minutes flipping in between to ensure all sides are cooked keep this aside
For Churma preparation: mix flour, semolina, milk, ghee to form firm dough. Rest for 15 minutes

soak Almonds and pistachios in hot water for 20 minutes , thinly slice them and keep it aside
break the cooked battis for churma into coarse powder. Add little ghee, cardamom, sugar, nuts and mix well
For serving:; Dipthe battis in Ghee and transfer them to a serving plate garnish churma with additional almond slivers and serve them in a bowl pour the panchmel Dal on the battis, add additional ghee if required and serve with churma, enjoy the delicious warm lunch
