Dry roast cumin seeds, coriander seeds, poppy seeds, chana dal in a pan, roughly chopped dry red chillies, remove the seeds and add it to the pan and continue to roast till fragrant, and then switch off the flame and cool it on room temperature and then grind it to a fine powder.
Heat ghee in a pan,add asafoetida and mustard seeds to it and let the seeds spatter. Then add curry leaves into it, saute till leaves turn crisp.
Then add the tomatoes and the green chilli into it, mix it well, cover it and cook it till tomatoes turn soft and pulpy. Add turmeric powder and 3 tbsp of grounded powder, pav bhaji masala and salt to the tomato mixture. Mix it well and cook it for 2 minutes.
Then add rice into it, mix it well with the masalas and then add 2 tbsp of grounded powder into it, mix it well and then switch off the flame and serve it hot.
